Wakayama launches RFI process

The Wakayama Prefectural Government on Tuesday launched its RFI process for its anticipated IR bid, to be conducted by its new consulting company, EY.

Two briefings have been scheduled, the first in Wakayama’s Marina City on June 8, and the second in Tokyo on June 13. The content of the two briefing sessions is expected to be identical, with the exception that the Wakayama event will include a tour of the proposed IR site.

The deadline for submissions from interested companies is August 31, but participation in not a requirement to participate in any subsequent public requests to select the IR operator.

The overall purpose of the RFI process, as explained by the prefectural documents, is to “brush-up” the recently released “IR Basic Concept for Wakayama Prefecture” and “to widely hear ideas, from domestic and overseas entities, regarding the resort-type IR which Wakayama Prefecture aims to introduce.”
