William Hill U.S. flooded by sponsorship deals: Reuters

UK-bookmaker William Hill says it has been ‘inundated’ with U.S. sports teams looking to do sponsorship deals, Reuters reports.

The flood of interest comes after the landmark U.S. Supreme Court ruling in May which opened up the ‘floodgates’ to legal sports wagering across the country.

“The leagues and the teams are interested in doing commercial deals,” said Joseph Asher, CEO of William Hill U.S.

He noted that “one of the most prominent franchises in the country” discussed the idea with him even before the top court ruling.

On Thursday, New Jersey is set to become the third state in the country to legalize sports betting after passing the bill last week.

Gov. Murphy is set to place the first bet at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport at 10:30 a.m.
