Workers request mandatory suspension of gaming ops during typhoon

The New Macau Gaming Staff Rights Association is working on submitting a letter to the government urging it to establish a mandatory shutdown of casinos whenever a typhoon of signal no.8 or higher is hoisted.

According to a report from Macau News Agency (MNA), Association president Cloee Chao said that the majority of gaming workers welcomed the measure taken by casinos over the weekend during Typhoon Mangkhut.

Casinos closed from Saturday 11pm and reopened at 8am on Monday.

Chao said she was confident the government would legalize the measure.
