Workers rights association calls for trade union law

The New Macau Gaming Workers' Rights Association handed in a petition calling for the introduction of a trade union law last week, Macau TDM reports.

Trade union laws are generally intended to protect workers’ rights in negotiations concerning labour issues with their companies.

The gaming workers union reportedly handed the petition to the Government Headquarters last week, hoping that the request be forwarded to the National People's Congress chairman Zhang Dejiang during his visit.

Dejiang wrapped up his visit to Macau on Wednesday, after meeting with Legislative Assembly Members and the Court of Final Appeal on Tuesday, and the University of Macau on Wednesday.
