Wynn Resorts withdraws application for NJ online gambling

It appears that casino mogul Steve Wynn will pass on a return to New Jersey as US new sources report that Wynn Resorts Ltd has withdrawn its application for a state online gambling license.

Its digital gaming subsidiary Wynn Interactive is said to have withdrawn its application a month ago with New Jersey’s Gaming Enforcement Division having examined the opportunities available to offer licensed internet gambling services.

The closure of its application will likely end its partnership with Caesars Interactive to offer New Jersey digital gambling provisions.

Wynn’s decision not to proceed with New Jersey online gambling services, will not come as a surprise to many US gambling insiders. The casino operator never appeared committed to launching online gambling services in New Jersey, as it constantly delayed its formal decision since its initial application in 2013.

Licensed online gambling began in New Jersey in Nov. 2013. After a sluggish start, it has been showing gradual revenue improvements. The sector posted $122 million in 2014, and for the first eight months of 2015, it has brought in $96.7 million, an increase of 15.6 percent on 2014 like for like figures
