Yokohama to establish advisory committee for IR operator selection

The municipal government of Yokohama announced on Thursday that it would be establishing a specialized committee to advise the city on the selection of an IR operator.

Yokohama is currently the most sought-after location in the Japan IR race with Galaxy, Genting Singapore, Las Vegas Sands, Melco, Sega Sammy, and Wynn all jostling to partner with the municipal government.

The committee is expected to consist of up to seven members who are specialists in tourism, local economies, and related fields. They will report their findings to Yokohama Mayor Fumiko Hayashi.

The plan for the committee is scheduled to be submitted to the Yokohama City Council on February 13.
