Zhuhai visa hike won’t affect visitation or GGR

A recent hike in price of the Macau transit visa issued in Zhuhai will have a minimal impact on overall visitation and GGR, said Morgan Stanley in a note on Friday.

Morgan Stanley said the increased fees for Zhuhai visas, now at US$50, is high but not significant for average gamblers, with average mass drop of $4,000 per visitor.

The transit visa is also only used by 15-20 percent of Chinese visitors, and not all are from Zhuhai. Thus, the bigger impact may be felt by genuine overseas tourists and gamblers who may now have to fly through Hong Kong instead, said the brokerage.
