GLI Japan wins government endorsement

Gaming Laboratories International has received Japanese government approval to test and certify pachinko and pachislot machines, breaking the monopoly of the Security Communications Association (Hotsukyo).

Currently, the Security Communications Association tests and certifies that the pachinko and pachislot machines developed by the makers conform to fair standards in terms of the rate of payoffs, etc. There has been trouble in the past, however, with some pachinko parlor stores around the nation altering the machines at their end.

GLI is a dominant player globally in the testing and certification of casino-related equipment such as slot machines, but GLI Japan remains in an embryonic form.
