98 people arrested for illegal online gambling: China


Chinese police have arrested 98 people connected to online gambling networks that handled $78 billion in bets, according to state media.

Police in Hunan and Guangdong have shut down 12 “gambling dens” since July.

The individuals arrested were suspected of “involvement in an online gambling network that has opened more than 500 online casinos, attracting a million members, Xinhua news agency said, adding that the investigation was ongoing.
