Aristocrat profit up 28.8 pct on digital and land-based business

Gaming machine manufacturer Aristocrat Leisure delivered on profit growth for the year ended September 30, 2019, boosted by the group recent digital acquisitions, along with growth in its land-based segment. 

According to a company filing on Wednesday, profit after tax increased 28.8 percent year-on-year, reaching A$698.8 million, while revenue grew 25.3 percent, reaching A$4.4 billion. EBITDA increased 11.8 percent, reflecting revenue growth.  

Aristocrat said the result was driven by continued strong operational momentum across both its land-based and digital businesses, support by currency and tax benefits. 

The gaming supplier also pointed to growth in the group’s Americas, ANZ and Digital Businesses. 

“We’ve made significant strides in bedding down recent digital acquisitions, leveraging critical assets and establishing a diversified portfolio approach, analogous to our proven Land-Based growth strategy.”

“The successful global launch and scaling of RAID: Shadow Legends, our first entry into the CRPG genre, contributed to performance generated valuable insights we will apply to future game launches and genre entry strategies, said Trevor Croker, CEO and managing director of Aristocrat. 

Donald Carducci, an analyst at JP Morgan in Australia, said that they were confident of another 12 months of land-based dominance- driven by a strong momentum of game adoption. 

Digital growth is also likely to be seen in the first half of 2020, said the analysts.
