ASF Group, a consortium short-listed to build a multi-billion dollar casino resort on Australia’s Gold Coast, has chosen Global Gaming Asset Management to manage the project, local media reports.
GGAM has been involved in resorts including the Venetian and Palazzo in Las Vegas, Four Seasons in Macau, City of Dreams Macau and the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
“The partnership with GGAM elevates Queensland into the top 10 destinations worldwide for integrated resort developments and the premiere destination in Australia,” ASF project director Allan Fife was cited as saying.
“When you look at the resorts the GGAM team has been involved with, it brings to life a whole new level of experiences we could have on the Gold Coast. This has simply not been seen in Australia before."
“This project will be a significant boost to Queensland tourism and the local economy. The Gold Coast needs a catalyst project to drive a tourism turnaround and capture the high net worth Asian tourism market, as well as new tourists from the Americas, Middle East and Europe and this project is right on target to achieve that."
ASF is bidding for one of three casino licenses being offered by the Queensland state government in a bid to boost tourism revenue. Tony Fung’s Aquis Group is the short-listed bidder for a second regional license, while Echo Entertainment and Crown Resorts International have formed competing consortia to bid for a license to redevelop the Queen’s Wharf site in downtown Brisbane.
ASF also said it has revised its masterplan for the Gold Coast resort. The IR will have 2,885 hotel rooms spread across six hotels, including a six-star property. It will feature more than 20 restaurants, four night clubs and an eco Marine Park.
ASF said it expects 1.9 million tourist arrivals a year on completion with the creation of 15,200 long-term permanent jobs.
