Best Sunshine $25m training center gets green light

The Commonwealth of Northern Marianas Lottery has approved Imperial Pacific International Holdings’ live training center concept, under which the $7.1 billion casino developer will train about 500 casino workers while waiting for its casino-hotels to be constructed.

The training center will be located at the ground floor of DFS T Galleria—from whom Imperial Pacific's  Best Sunshine unit leased lands in Garapan for Phase I construction of its project.

It will cost Best Sunshine about $25 million to construct the training facility, hire workers, and purchase equipment.

Best Sunshine said that it is leasing the ground floor from DFS for two years and the training facility will remain operational while construction is pending.

At the training center, employees will undergo six months of intensive training on all games.

Newly hired employees will go through a non-live training phase before proceeding to live training.

Meanwhile, the operator is in a tussle with a 48-room hotel developer in Garapan over the lease of a piece of public land.

H.S. Lee Construction Co. Inc. was granted a temporary restraining order from CNMI Superior Court Associate Judge David Wiseman. The company claims the Department of Public Lands has breached its offer of a contract to H.S. Lee Construction Co. Inc.

The department has told H.S. Lee that it can only lease a small portion of the disputed land, which Best Sunshine is also eyeing.
