Betway partners with English Federation of Disability Sport

Betway have announced the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS) as their official charity of the year.

The partnership will kick off this weekend, when employees line up for the Silverstone Half Marathon with a fundraising goal of £25,000 (US$35,666) for the year.

The funds raised from the half marathon will provide vital support to EFDS’s Inclusive Fitness Initiative, which helps disabled people to be more active in their local area.

Betway will also take part in a variety of events over the coming months in support of EFDS, including a raft of head-to-head internal team challenges.

Betway Group CEO Richard Akitt, said: “The work that the English Federation of Disability Sport do is crucial to the health and well-being of thousands of people across the country, and we couldn’t be more proud to support the charity throughout 2016.”

“Our employees are sport fanatics and can’t wait to compete against each other – all in aid of EFDS. It’s set to be a very exciting and rewarding year ahead.”

Barry Horne, Chief Executive for EFDS, said: “Companies like Betway enable us to increase opportunities and make active lives possible. It is the stark reality that disabled people are half as active as non-disabled people. Our IFI programme aims to tackle this inequality and break down the common barriers, which disabled people face every day when looking to be active.

“All our thanks go to Betway for selecting EFDS as their official charity. We wish all the employees the best of luck for the year ahead, which promises to be fun and rewarding.”
