Casinos have submitted 88 smoking lounge applications so far

A total of 88 smoking lounge applications from 12 casinos have been submitted to the Health Bureau in the first eight months of the year, according to reports.

As previously reported, 10 of these smoking rooms have been approved in two casinos, Ponte 16 and Studio City, with the remaining still under processing.

Next year, all smoking rooms will be required to abide by new smoking room criteria and approved by the relevant health authorities.

It is understood that in order to be allowed in the 2019 calendar year, the new smoking rooms need to be approved by the Health Bureau by September 28, 2018.

The number of smoking infractions in Macau’s casinos have been on the rise in the last eight months, according to reports.
