China lottery sales down 13 pct in March

China lottery sales declined for the second month in a row in March, with sales growth decline felt in both the welfare lottery and sports lottery.

According to data from the Ministry of Finance, total lottery sales fell 13 percent year-on-year to RMB34.95 billion (US$5.2 billion).

Welfare lottery sales fell 16.4 percent year-on-year to CNY16.6 billion, while sports lottery sales fell 9.7 percent to CNY18.4 billion.

The decline in sales is an increase from the month of February, which only fell 8.8 percent year-on-year.
