China lottery sales gain 24.4 percent in November


Sales of China’s state lottery gained 24.4 percent in November to RMB34.11 billion ($5.3 billion), led by Sports Lottery sales.

In the first 11 months of the year, sales are up 24.1 percent to 346.22 billion, according to Ministry of Finance figures.

Sales of Sports Lottery tickets continued to far outpace growth in the larger Welfare Lottery, gaining 31.6 percent to RMB 15.89 billion. The year-to-date gain has been 33 percent.

Sales of the Welfare Lottery rose 18.8 percent to RMB18.22 billion. In the 11 months, sales are up 17.3 percent.

Over the year to date, the single-match game card has shown the strongest growth, up 83 percent, followed by Video Lottery Terminal sales, up 30.8 percent.

The only game to show a decline was the Instant Scratch Card in the Sports Lottery, where sales fell 4.4 percent. Sales of the game in the Welfare Lottery edged up just 1.1 percent.
