City of Dreams retail extension to open by mid-2016; Lawrence Ho

Macau’s City of Dreams is due to open its new expanded retail arcade by mid-2016, said Melco Crown Entertainment chief executive officer Lawrence Ho in an interview with Hong Kong’s Now TV.

Ho said he was satisfied with the current progress of the leasing of shops in the new development, which is part of the firm’s plan to expand its non-gaming offerings - an important new dimension for Macau’s gaming operators.

Melco Crown’s recently opened Studio City in Macau was another testament to the importance of non-gaming offerings in Macau.

The $3.2 billion cinematically-themed leisure resort and casino features  Asia’s highest Ferris wheel and family entertainment developed with Time Warner Inc.

“The opening of Studio City stands testament to Melco Crown Entertainment’s commitment to help to evolve and greatly enhance Macau’s non-gaming entertainment proposition as we continue to work towards our strategic aim in supporting its evolution into a highly-diversified and world-leading leisure and tourism destination,”said Ho at its opening.
