Hotel occupancy in Macau was up 5 percent in July, according to data released by the Macau Government Tourism Office on Wednesday.
Last month, average hotel occupancy reached 90.2 percent, up 5.2 percentage points compared to a year ago. The figures were also up from June’s 83.6 percent occupancy rate.
4-star hotels saw the highest growth in occupancy, increasing 5.7 percentage points to 91.8 percent.
However, 3-star hotels saw the highest occupancy rate, up 5.1 percentage points to 94.2 percent.
The increase in occupancy rate may also be attributable to a decrease in hotel room rates. Which was on average MOP1,232 (US$154) per night in July, down 13.9 percent year-on-year.
