Ex-Pagcor chief barred from travel

The Sandiganbayan anti-corruption court barred Efraim Genuino, the former chairman of Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp., from leaving the country after he posted bail of 1.71 million pesos ($41,000) on 39 counts of corruption. The Sandiganbayan also barred six other indicted former Pagcor officials from foreign travel. The charges relate to the use of 26.7 million pesos ($633,000) in company money to promote a movie produced by a foundation linked to the former Pagcor officials, and the repackaging of rice donated for typhoon victims to promote the foundation and the legislative candidacy of Genuino's son.
