Genting HK to acquire Singaporean club Zouk

Genting Hong Kong, which operates Star Cruises, has acquired Singapore's iconic club brand, Zouk, for an undisclosed sum.

In a press release, Zouk said that under the terms of the agreement, GHK will acquire Zouk's major trademarks, the new Zouk Club in Clarke Quay, and the annual ZoukOut festival.

The acquisition is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2015.

Zouk Singapore will continue to operate under Benny Heng, the club's newly appointed managing director and former general manager.

"As Genting Hong Kong continues to expand its reach in attracting a younger and more lifestyle driven clientele, we are confident that the addition of such an iconic institution will further complement and enhance the company's overall brands and offerings across the region," Genting HK's vice president of lifestyle, Andrew Li said.

Zouk brand founder Lincoln Cheng said: "Zouk, a world-class brand, has all along, held ambition to expand beyond Singapore and Malaysia.”
