Ha Tien Vegas opens Friday

Ha Tien Vegas is the latest of Cambodia’s casinos to restart, with plans to open its doors from Friday, September 18th.

The Cambodian government gave the greenlight for the country’s casinos to reopen in early July, however, they were required to have an inspection from the Health Ministry before resuming operations. The properties were shut down from the beginning of April to help stem the spread of Covid-19.

Ha Tien Vegas is on the border with Vietnam and relies on that country for most of its visitation, as locals are not permitted to gamble.

Cambodia’s biggest casino, NagaCorp in Phnom Penh, recently reported that business had picked up quickly since it resumed operations on July 8th. In its Q2 results announcement, it said business in August had returned to more than 90 percent of its pre-pandemic levels, with VIP rollings at 98 percent. Traffic was helped by pent-up demand from Chinese business workers living in the country.
