Hong Kong extends Covid-19 quarantine measures to August 7

The government of Hong Kong has decided to extend the compulsory two-week quarantine for travelers from Macau, China, and Taiwan for an additional month to August 7.

Last week, Macau Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng indicated that the recent Covid-19 outbreak in Beijing had also delayed discussions for establishing a travel bubble between Macau, Hong Kong, and Guangdong Province.

Together with reports of a handful of new cases in Hong Kong and Macau, hopes appear to be fading for an early reopening of borders in the Greater Bay Area, something expected to significantly boost Macau’s economic recovery once it occurs.
