Japan Casino School provides IR education for journalists

Japan Casino School, with the cooperation of Marina Bay Sands, held a seminar for about fifteen journalists in central Tokyo, aiming to deepen their understanding of what the development of the IR industry might mean for Japan.

Hosted by Japan Casino School head Masayoshi Oiwane, the three panelists were Akira Kurita of Hakuhodo and two guests from Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, Masatoshi Otani and Yoko Kuwabara.

Otani is himself a graduate of Japan Casino School who entered Marina Bay Sands as a card dealer in 2014 and has recently been appointed as a global gaming analyst. His career path illustrates the fact that the human resources for Japanese IRs have actually been developing for over a decade, mainly through Japanese citizens working on casino floors in places like Singapore and Macau.

The two-hour event, which was dubbed the “Japan-Style IR Meeting,” consisted of a broad overview of the prospects of the IR industry in Japan. Time was also provided for the journalists to ask questions of the panelists on a variety of related topics.
