John James appointed Foxwoods CEO

More than a year after the sudden death of Felix Rappaport, Foxwoods Resort Casino has a new president and chief executive officer—John J. James

James comes to post from his current role as chief executive officer of Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, located in Cabazon, California. He has a considerable amount of experience running casinos owned by Native American tribes. The new appointment is effective August 12.

Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Chairman and Interim Chief Executive Officer Rodney Butler explains, “With his proven track record for innovation, John is the right leader to continue [our] commitment to our guests, fulfil our vision, and ignite our passion for delivering a resort that excites and surprises. John perfectly represents our team's values and beliefs, and we are ready to drive the future of Foxwoods together.”

Before Rappaport’s death, Foxwoods had been exploring the possibility of an IR bid in Japan, but that activity appeared to have stalled during its long executive search period. It remains to be seen if international development will be a priority for James and his leadership team.
