Macau beefing up security against terrorism

Macau’s secretary for security says the city has intensified its security as part of his efforts to prevent terrorism from finding its way into Macau, TDM News reports.

The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau has already asked casino operators to heighten security following the mass shooting incident in Las Vegas.

As for security for the rest of the city, Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak says security forces are always well-prepared in terms of preventive measures, but noted that the city appears less prone to terrorist attacks.

He praised the the cross-border cooperation of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau for its efforts against crime.

"There are regular exchanges of information and other police affairs between the three regions. We can determine potential terrorists and criminals. We don't allow those people to enter Macau. However, we also advise all casinos to stay alert and take preventive measures accordingly", he said.
