Macau Legend’s Harbourview Hotel opens

The Harbourview Hotel, with 389-rooms and modeled on 18th century Prague architecture, has opened in Macau, marking the first of several non-gaming related projects planned for this year.

The 4-star hotel, owned by Macau Legend Development and costing about $193 million, is connected to the Flamingo Casino slot hall, and Babylon Casino, which features 35 new gaming tables, according to the South China Morning Post.

The hotel is part of a redevelopment of the waterfront theme park - which includes two other hotels, an opera house and a yacht club - and a push to diversify the economy now that its casino industry is weakening.

Ben Lee, managing partner at IGamiX Management & Consulting, told the Post that more would need to be done to diversify Macau's economy.

"The diversification of the economy is a long-term project. There are now several structural problems, and we need to have things like a work force," he said.
