Macau to boost China, Cambodia air links

Macau International Airport said Macau Air will begin operating four direct flights a week to Tianjin in China from September 6th, while a separate airline will offer two weekly flights to the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh. The airport said it handled a total of 520,000 passengers last month, 6.5 percent more than a year earlier and a record for the month.Mainland China and Southeast Asia routes saw gains of 13 percent and 6.5 percent respectively over the same period last year.Analysts have said improving access to different areas in China will help boost gaming revenue in Macau. Although the majority of visitors to the gambling hub are from the mainland, the overall penetration rate remains low, leaving substantial room for growth if transport links are improved.
