Macau’s first training course for gaming employees

Sands China held the inauguration ceremony of Macau’s first training course for gaming practitioners on Tuesday.

Co-organized by the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM), the Labor Affairs Bureau (DSAL), and Sands China Ltd, the company’s “Professionalism Training for Gaming Practitioners” is the first course of its kind in Macau for gaming employees.

The training focuses on professional ethics, professional conduct, professional awareness and professional skills. 600 Sands China team members will attend the training, with each team member attending 14 hours of training over two days, said the company in a press release.

“As the gaming industry has entered a period of deep adjustment, it is one of our priorities to drive home the message of "always strive to be better” and "quality and integrity" through policy measures to lay down the pathway for the development of the industry. The Macao SAR government hopes the entire industry and its practitioners can work in a combined effort to support the healthy development of the industry,” said Lionel Leong, Macau’s Secretary of Economy and Finance during the ceremony.

President of Sands China, Dr. Wilfred Wong said: “Sands China is very pleased to be the first gaming operator in Macau to launch this Professionalism Training for Gaming Practitioners... Professionalism is a critical component for Macau’s development as a world centre of tourism and leisure. What’s more, this training is another way for our team members to increase and strengthen their calibre, paving an ever-brighter career path ahead for them.”
