Macau gaming continues to suffer from the ongoing coronavirus crisis, with March GGR expected to now fall 75 to 80 percent year-on-year, according to analysts from Bernstein.
This is due mainly to the temporary halt on IVS and group visas into Macau and limited flights into Macau and surrounding airports.
Visitation has been slowly improving, said Bernstein, but continues to remain far short of prior year arrivals.
Bernstein said it estimates March to be down 75 to 80 percent, but could be worse if VIP hold moderates and volumes do not improve.
“The operators we have spoken with do not see any clarity on the timing of recovery at this time.”
Bernstein said recovery will largely depend on when travel restrictions from China will be lifted.
