Melco Crown plans COD Manila grand opening before Chinese New Year

Melco Crown Entertainment has confirmed that the soft opening for its City of Dreams integrated resort in Manila will be held on December 14th, with a grand opening planned before the Chinese New Year in 2015.
Melco Crown (Philippines) Resorts Corporation said in a filing with the Philippine Stock Exchange that it has received the Notice to Commence Casino Operations from local market regulator, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
The resort will be by far the largest in the country with more than 365 gaming tables, 1,700 slot machines and 1,700 electronic table games once fully operational.
“We believe the entry of MCP, with its City of Dreams Manila opening at the end of this year, will be a game changer to the industry,” JP Morgan analysts wrote in a recent note.
“Locally, its diverse non-gaming offering with well-branded hotels, as well as clustering effect with Solaire would finally help Entertainment City to build the critical mass.”
Melco Crown says its latest integrated resort will have a strategic mix of hotel brands, ensuring a "celebrity-inspired and fun-luxury experience." It will have six hotel towers, including the 260-room Crown Towers hotel, which will cater to the high-end VIP and premium mass market segments, and the 321-room Nobu Hotel Manila, a project spearheaded by celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa, and championed by Hollywood actor Robert De Niro and Hollywood producer Meir Teper.
