MGM supports frontline workers with epidemic prevention supplies

MGM has supplied its frontline staff of Macau Federation of Trade Unions of Macau (FOAM), General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM) and Caritas Macau with masks, disposable caps, and other necessary items in a bid to fight the spread of the coronavirus.

At the same time, MGM also prepared 1,000 supply kits for local elderly which have been distributed with the helping hands of the above three organizations. The distribution of the supply kits will allow the elderly to stay worry-free at home and follow the government’s epidemic prevention call.

MGM has also prepared 1,000 supply kits for solitary and vulnerable elderly as well as other needy senior citizens, which will be distributed via FOAM, UGAMM, and Caritas Macau. Each supply kit includes hand sanitizer, toilet paper, noodles, oatmeal and other daily necessities. Equipping our local elderly with these supplies would reduce their risk of infection due to going out.

During this critical period, MGM still recognizes the importance of standing with the disabled members of the community to fight against the epidemic. The Company has organized volunteer team members who stay at home to chat online with the members of Long Cheng Center of the Fuhong Society of Macau, sending them care and sharing tips on epidemic prevention.

Mr. Grant Bowie, chief executive officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Ltd, says, “Macau is a city of kindness. Under the leadership of the SAR government, we join hands with the community to fight against this epidemic. We have to thank our community partners, who have assisted us in sending warmth and supplies to the people in need at this critical moment, especially when we can’t do that in person due to epidemic prevention reasons.”

Understanding the hardship its retail tenants, especially the local SMEs, are facing during this difficult time, the Company has announced to waive their rent for 15 days in order to alleviate their burdens. MGM will continue to fight the epidemic by following and supporting the government’s direction, in the spirit of solidarity and cooperation.
