Nine Vietnamese players have had their lifetime bans for match-fixing extended to include soccer related activities at confederation level, the Asian Football Confederation said.
Vietnam's federation banned the players in December after a court jailed their former international Tran Manh Dung for 30 months and handed out suspended sentences to eight other players found guilty of colluding with a bookmaker in a regional AFC Cup game.
"[N]ine players are banned from all football activities in all AFC Member Associations," the AFC said on its website.”
Vietnam has one of the world's worst track records for match-fixing due to players being easy targets for betting syndicates.
