A total of 513 smoking infractions were recorded in Macau casinos during the first four months of 2018, says the Health Bureau in a report from MNA.
According to the data, male tourists made up for most of the smoking infractions.
This trend can also be seen in the overall data, with 1,824 smoking infractions across the city recorded in the Jan-April period. Of this, 1,152 infractions came from tourists.
New smoking laws, which came in January 1, 2018, forbids any smoking within 10 meters of bus stops.
The fine for non-compliance has increased to MOP1,500 (US$185).
The Bureau however noted that the number of smokers who smoked at prohibited areas had decreased by 989.
