Package tour visitors down 6.7 percent in Jan

Visitors on package tours to Macau totalled 532,000 in January, down 6.7 percent year-on-year, according to the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).

In the month, package tour visitors from mainland China fell 9 percent year-on-year, while those from Korea and Taiwan rose 21.3 percent and 4.7 percent respectively.

According to the DSEC, the number of guests in hotels and guesthouses totalled 1.04 million in January, up by 15.6 percent year-on-year, with average length of stay of guests around 1.4 nights.

The average occupancy  rate  of  hotels  & guesthouses  stood  at  81.6 in January,  up by 4.4  percentage  points year-on-year.

It is worth noting that Chinese New Year this year fell on the end of January.
