Paddy Power drops support for basketball star Rodman’s N. Korea trip

Irish bookmaker Paddy Power has pulled its sponsorship of U.S. basketball star Dennis Rodman’s visits to North Korea following criticism from human rights groups. Rodman held an exhibition basketball game in the North Korean capital on Jan. 8 to celebrate leader Kim Jong-un’s birthday. The plan came under fire following the recent leadership purge in the secretive state, which resulted in the execution of Kim’s uncle. "Given changed circumstances, Paddy Power has decided to withdraw its association with the Dennis Rodman basketball initiative in North Korea," it said.
