Paradise Co. Ltd’s gaming sales drop 14 percent in first six months


South Korean casino operator Paradise Co. Ltd’s gaming sales in the first six months of the year ending June 30 dropped by 14 percent to KRW257.51 billion ($227 million).

The figure is down from sales of KRW299.36 billion in the prior-year period. 

Machine game sales rose 4.6 percent during the six months of 2015 to just over KRW16.95 billion.

Paradise’s casino division, made up of the Jeju Grand, Walkerhill and Incheon saw a month-on-month decline from May of 65.5 percent to nearly KRW20.19 billion in June.

Table drop for the first half was down 21.9 percent year-on-year to nearly KRW2.15 trillion, from approximately KRW2.75 trillion.

South Korea’s tourism industry has taken a hit since a nationwide scare of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, with arrivals by air falling 19.5 percent in the first three weeks of June, according to official figures.
