Paradise Sept. casino sales gain 19 percent

South Korea’s Paradise Co. posted a 19 percent jump in September casino sales compared with the same month a year ago, led by table games.

In a regulatory filing, the foreigner-only operator said total sales in the month amounted to KRW41.6 billion. Table games registered a 21.7 percent gain to KRW38.63 billion ($37.3 billion), while gaming machine revenue declined 7.8 percent to KRW3 billion.

In the nine months to end Sept. total sales were up 10.4 percent to KRW454.57 billion, with table games rising 11.7 percent and gaming machines recording a drop of 6.7 percent.

Revenue over the summer period last year was hit hard after an outbreak of Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome caused visitor arrivals to collapse.

However, the September figures were down from the prior month. Overall sales declined 28.2 percent from August, with table games down 30.4 percent. Machine revenue posted a gain of 23.5 percent.
