PJ arrests eight in loan sharking ring bust

The Judiciary Police have arrested eight people in connection to a loan sharking ring in Macau, TDM News reports.

Earlier in the week, the PJ conducted a search operation in a residential unit believed to be used for illegal gambling activities.

Authorities found books and receipts which suggested that the property was used as a base for loan sharking.

"The evidence we have discovered inside the residential unit such as receipts show that they've had more than 60 borrowers," says Tam Weng Keong, a spokesman for the Judiciary Police.

Another 10 suspects, including the ring leader, is still on the run.

The Judiciary Police says they will seek help from the mainland authorities to arrest these suspects.
