Pop-star turned govt worker probed for performing at RWM

Philippines pop-star turned government worker Esther Margaux "Mocha" Uson is being investigated for performing in casinos despite a prohibition that restricts government employees from entering gaming venues.

The Presidential Communications Operations Office told local reporters that it was looking into reports that the Assistant Secretary, who is also the lead singer of Mocha Girls, was performing at Resorts World Manila.

In a statement on Thursday, Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said that the assistant secretary had previously asked for permission to honor her entertainment contracts despite being in government service.

"Mocha can still perform if she wishes but I'd discourage her from performing in places like casinos," he said.
