Queensland October gaming tally up 1.7 percent yearly, but monthly results fail to shine

October gaming results in the Australian state of Queensland came in up by 1.7 percent yearly and 0.7 percent monthly, according to data from Wohlsen Consulting.

The group notes that October results ‘have on average been 1.6 percent higher than September results’, noting that this year’s monthly uptick ‘might be less exciting for some’.
Operations in hotels saw a stronger uptick, rising by 2 percent yearly to AU$163.56 million ($104.04 million). Meanwhile, clubs brought in some AU$121.68 million ($77.4 million) during the period, up 1.2 percent yearly.
Compared to the previous month, hotels’ machine gross revenue was up by 1 percent, while that of clubs was up 0.2 percent.
Hotels continued to dominate the market, with a 57.3 percent market share, up 0.2 percentage points month-on-month, with analyst Geoff Wohlsen noting that ‘the hotel sector market share continues to grow after a lull in April this year’.
In the most recent monthly report, Wohlsen notes that ‘some of the major growth areas over recent post COVID years are starting to soften,’ noting also the impact of recent fires started in October.
