Resom in new Subic resort plan

South Korea's Resom Resort Inc. plans to invest 20 billion pesos ($465 million) to develop a casino resort complex at Subic Bay (about 100 kilometers northwest of Manila Bay), according to local officials. The new plan, which takes the place of a similar one Resom announced in 2010 for a different site in the free trade zone, would include a 1.2 billion peso first phase under which a 300-room hotel with convention facilities would open by 2015, with a casino, a golf course, theme parks and more hotels to open by 2017. A previous casino resort development on Resom's new site fell apart when its architect backed out after discovering the project would involve cutting down 300 trees, a problem that would be avoided with Resom's plan. Resom operates non-gaming resorts in South Korea.
