Sands China opens Phase 3 of Sands Cotai mall

Sands China officially opened its expanded Shoppes at Cotai Central on Friday, boosting the size of the mall by 70 percent and raising the total retail area to 400,000 square feet.

Within Phase 3, 36 new retailers have opened for business, with a further 15 restaurants and kiosks to open by the end of the year.

The company spent $60 million on the expansion, which was designed to create space to diversify the tenant mix. The U.K.’s Marks & Spencer is a new addition to the mall, opening its first Macau store there.

Sands Retail first-half sales rose 21 percent $1.25 billion, with Shoppes at Cotai Central contributing $149 million of sales, a 28 percent increase year-on-year. In 2013, Sands Retail achieved full year sales of over $2 billion in Macao.
