Shambala lays out plans for Primorye IR

Shambala CEO Maxim Smolentsev on Tuesday presented plans for a gambling facility in Primorye during a meeting headed by regional Vice Governor Yevgeny Polyansky, according to state news agency RIA Novosti.

The project was reportedly approved by Polyansky and other officials.

According to the investor, the project was developed by international architectural firm AEDAS, which is behind gambling venues including The Venetian Macao and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.

The entertainment complex is expected to include a casino and a 5-star hotel with no less than 250 rooms. Construction is expected to be carried out in two stages, the first of which involves building a casino within the two-year period. The second stage, which will take about three years, will include hotel and entertainment facilities. The overall investment is expected to be RUB10 billion (US$170 million).

Explaining his interest in the project, Smolentsev said at the meeting that he expects that the Primorye gambling zone "has great potential to become an world-famous entertainment resort".

Shambala has been operating games of chance since 2003 and has been behind six casinos in western Russia within six years.
