SJM launches new non-gaming amenities to ramp up Grand Lisboa Palace

Macau gaming operator SJM Resorts unveils new non-gaming amenities, hoping to ramp up its flagship property, Grand Lisboa Palace.

The latest addition to the group's Cotai Strip property is a "Martial Arts Arena", described as a high-tech game zone where guests can undergo martial arts training using VR and LiDAR technology. Meanwhile, the group is launching an "AI Wonderland", offering interactive AI games and entertaining classes utilizing advanced AI technology.
Daisy Ho, Chairman and Executive Director of SJM Holdings, mentioned that in order to actively respond to Macau SAR's diversification development strategy, the company implemented themed amusement facilities to enhance the connotation of Macau tourism. The executive says the goal is to combine education with entertainment, cultivate the younger generation's interest in science and technology, and contribute to the advancement of research and tourism, injecting new impetus into the industry.
She also highlighted that, in the future, the company plans to launch artificial intelligence training courses for different age groups to inspire scientific and creative interests.
In 2022, SJM pledged to invest some MOP14.03 billion ($1.74 billion) over its 10-year gaming concession, with MOP12 billion ($1.5 billion) allocated to non-gaming.
SJM has the second-smallest investment commitment amongst the six operators, followed by Melco.
The group has also struggled to gain traction with its Grand Lisboa Palace property, being a latecomer to Cotai, located off the main Strip, and opening during the pandemic.
