Social casino revenue to top $2.7B

Social casino gambling is expected to rake in $2.7 billion in revenue this year according to Eilers Research gaming analyst Adam Krejcikis, quoted in a Las Vegas media report.

MyVegas is a social gaming site which offers rewards from operators including MGM Resorts International and Station Casinos. The site has more than 1 million daily active users, a spokeswoman for PlayStudios of Burlingame, California headed by former Wynn Las Vegas president Andrew Pascal, is quoted as saying. Players on myVegas can earn points for playing and then redeem them for meals, show tickets room nights and the like at MGM and Station Casino properties. Casino related rewards are banned under state law.

Andrew Pascal said the “real world rewards” make social gaming different from other forms of online games. Customers sign up for free and buy tokens to play.
Analyst Adam Krejcikis says Pascal’s company is on the up. “They are also one of the fastest growing social game companies we follow with revenues up more than 300 percent year over year, and we see further room for growth given our forecast,” he is quoted as saying.

MGM Resorts and Station Casinos see value in introducing their brands and offerings to customers outside the Las Vegas area and regard social gaming as an important profile building tool.
