South Korea recommences short-term visas for Chinese visitors

South Korea has announced the recommencement of short-term visas for travelers from China, laying to rest the diplomatic spat between the two countries commenced when China opened its borders amidst a massive wave of COVID cases.

South Korea imposed travel requirements in January, such as visa restrictions and testing measures for all visitors from China.
While the visa issuance has resumed, testing measures are still in place in South Korea, with anyone testing positive required to quarantine for one week.
Arrivals from outside China are no longer required to submit to pre-flight and on-arrival COVID testing.
The nation has also ended its indoor mask mandate.
China has welcomed the move by South Korea, noting that the two will work “to create more convenience for the normal flow of people between the two sides”.
