SportsBet commits A$1.5 million to “Take a Break” campaign

Australian online betting operator SportsBet has committed A$1.5 million ($1.15 million) to promote its new “Take a Break” campaign.

Planned for launch in November, SportsBet aims to raise awareness of problem gambling, addiction and other risks associated with online betting.

The operator revealed its campaign to the media, which promotes its self-exclusion system which allows players to temporarily bar themselves from gambling.

SportsBet’s campaign comes following the announcement by the Australian government that a review of its online betting framework was needed in order to update national laws and regulations in light of technology advancements in the sports betting industry.

The “Take a Break” campaign has been directly supported by SportsBet governance. CEO Cormac Barry further stated that the operator wanted to “break the psychological barrier of having to tell someone they’re experiencing issues in order to close their account”.
