Studio City signs Occupational Safety and Health charter

Studio City, the Hollywood-inspired, cinematically themed resort, today signed the Macau Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL)’s Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Charter, a step further to strengthen its commitment to occupational safety.

At the signing ceremony hosted at Studio City, Mr. David Sisk, property president of Studio City, signed the Charter on behalf of the establishment, under the witness of Mr. Wong Chi Hong, director of the DSAL.

“Melco Resorts & Entertainment has been committed to achieving excellence in OSH and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for our employees,” said the company in a press release on Thursday.

Studio City is the third establishment of the company to become a member of the Bureau’s OSH Charter, after sister properties Altira Macau and City of Dreams, which have signed their Charters in 2010 and 2012 respectively.

Melco has also been organizing several series of workshops for staff members and external parties to promote the best OSH practices.

Mr. David Sisk said, “As a member of the Melco family, Studio City has been striving for the corporate goal of maintaining the highest standards of OSH, and has been organizing OSH workshops regularly to promote its importance, making sure employees are well taken care of. The signing of the charter today further acknowledges those dedicated efforts in ensuring the safety and well-being of all our employees, patrons and contractors. We will continually act upon our promise in creating a safe and sound environment for our employees, patrons and contractors.”

“Macau, as the tourism capital of Asia with world-class hospitality offerings to the international travelers, places a great emphasis on the hospitality industry. Maintaining the highest standards of OSH management practices will ensure the safety of customers and staff members and help keep the Macau tourism industry competitive. On behalf of DSAL, I would like to thank Melco for its continual support of the scheme, thus setting a good example for its industry peers,” said Mr. Wong Chi Hong.

During the ceremony, DSAL Director Mr. Wong also presented certificates to 29 staff members of Studio City in recognition of their completion of the DSAL’s OSH Management training course.

The OSH Charter program was established by the DSAL in 2002. It aims to promote safety in the workplace and to encourage commitment from Macau-based organizations to appropriately manage the occupational safety and health interests of employees.
