Takenaka again upgrades Yumeshima development team

Effective from March 1, the Osaka-based Takenaka Corporation, one of Japan’s big five construction companies, once again upgraded its internal company team with a focus on gaining development contracts related to the 2025 World Expo and the anticipated Yumeshima IR.

The new unit, called the Yumeshima Development Headquarters, will supersede both the Expo Promotion Office established in October 2017 and the Yumeshima MICE/IR Promotion Office established last October.

The Yumeshima Development Headquarters is headed by Masato Namba, a board member and executive vice-president of the company, and it appears to have a staff of around thirty people. It is authorized to pursue its mission until the end of February 2026.

In December, the rival Obayashi Corporation established its Yumeshima Development (Expo-IR) Project Team of roughly the same size. Other major construction companies are also maneuvering to get a slice of the Yumeshima development pie.
