Ted Chan: We haven’t laid off staff in 10 years

Melco Crown’s COO, Ted Chan says the company has “never laid off our colleagues in the past, maybe, 10 years in Macau,” in response to recent complaints lodged by dealers who were allegedly unfairfly dismissed from Melco Crown.

In late August, Macau TDM reported that around five to six former dealers from Melco Crown have sought assistance from Macau’s Labor Affairs Bureau (DSAL), alleging they were unfairly dismissed and are owed award bonuses up to MOP100,000 (US$13,000).

“Our company has a very, very, good system in terms of praise and reward and I’m sure you might have heard that we have one of the best retention programmes for our colleagues,” commented Chan.

“I think we’re one of the first that developed locals back in the time before Altira was opening,” he said, quoted by Macau Business Daily.
